About this project

Jorge Paiva Neves is a distinguished Portuguese clarinetist, currently pursuing a Master’s in Orchestral Performance at HEMU Lausanne under the guidance of Professor Florent Héau. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Performance from ESMAE, where he studied with the renowned Professor António Saiote, graduating with a final grade of 17 out of 20. Jorge’s early musical foundation was built at the Conservatório de Música do Porto under Professor Ricardo Alves, achieving a final grade of 18 out of 20.

Jorge has excelled in various competitions, securing 3rd place at the II Ibero-American Clarinet Competition of Castelo de Paiva (2022), 1st place at the International Clarinet Association’s “High School Competition” (2021), and numerous other accolades, including the Casa da Música Award (2020).

His professional experience includes solo performances with the Orquestra do Norte and Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa (BSP) Wind Band, featuring works by Mozart and Kurpinski. Jorge is currently an academist with the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra for the 2024/2025 season.

Jorge has participated in master classes with esteemed clarinetists such as Andrew Marriner, Pascal Moraguès, and Florent Héau. His dedication to music and passion for teaching shine through his extensive experience and accolades, making him a promising talent in the world of clarinet performance.
