About this project

Fong Shing is a young professional Clarinetist from Hong Kong. He graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) under the tutelage of Maria Wong. He is currently working with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as a fellow and will be studying his Master Degree in HEMU Lausanne under Professor Florent Héau.

He has also participated in the masterclasses of Florent Héau, Lorenzo Iosco and Julien Hervé. As an active musician, he has participated in many competitions. He won the HKAPA concerto trial and performed Copland Clarinet Concerto with the APA orchestra as a soloist. He was awarded 1st prize of the 2nd Premia International Young Artists Music Festival, being invited to perform in the New York Carnagie Hall, as well as 2nd Prize of the 2022 International Ponte Music Festival: Concerto Competition, performing Weber Concerto No.1 with the Ponte Orchestra. He has also been awarded the 2nd runner-up in both the Solo-Open Class and the Solo-Senior Class of the 2019 Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition.

Fong is also passionate about chamber music. He is one of the founders of the Clarinet Quartet “Clarisma”. He has also awarded a Silver Prize in the Ensemble-Community Class of the 2019 Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition.
