Posman Yassine
Posman Yassine
About this project
Yassine Posman, born and raised in Ghent, has been in contact with music from an early age. Largely thanks to the concert hall of his father, André Posman, Yassine and his twin brother Taha grew up in a then flourishing initiative called “the Red Pump”.
After his secondary education at Sint-Lievenscollege and his clarinet studies at the Arts Academy ‘De Poel’, he started his higher studies at the Ghent Conservatory. He studies with Eddy Vanoosthuyse and obtained his bachelor’s degree with the highest distinction in 2023. Yassine founded the ‘Trio Malatya’ in 2022 together with 2 other promising young musicians, Jacob Van Durme (cello) and Taha Posman (piano). Together they want to tackle the lesser-known and performed repertoire for clarinet, cello and piano from Beethoven and Brahms to contemporary composers such as Pawel Mykietyn. With this trio he won Supernova (chambermusic competition of radio Klara) and audience award of that competition in 2023. Furthermore, Yassine has been active for several years as a clarinetist with the GUSO (Ghent University Symphonic Orchestra) and he is also active with the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra. He also won the Lions “Thomas Kuti” competition in Brussels in April 2024. In the same month he also appeared as a soloist with the GUSO on stages in Belgium and Sweden (Uppsala).
