Belgian clarinetist Severine Sierens studied at the Luca School of Arts, the Royal Conservatories of Ghent and Liège and the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg/The Netherlands, where she earned master degrees for clarinet and chamber music.  Her principal clarinet studies were with Eddy Vanoosthuyse; additional studies with Luis Rossi, Tomas Friedli, Michel Arrignon, Florent Héau and Philippe Cuper among others.

An active freelance musician, Sierens has performed with the Brussels Philharmonic and the orchestra of the Opera-Ballet Flanders among others. She has performed with string quartets  and ensembles including the ‘Ciurlionis Quartet’-Lithuania, ‘Roman Quartet’-Hungary, ‘Odeion Quartet’-South Africa , ‘Zemlinsky Quartet’-Czech Republic, ‘Khroma Quartet’-Belgium and with  ‘Simon Bolivar Symphonic Windband’-Venezuela, ‘Orchestre de Chambre de la Garde Républicaine/Paris’-France ‘The University of Utah Windensemble’-US, ‘Free State Symphony’-South Africa, ‘Symfonisch Ensemble Querceto’-Belgium, ‘Nuove Musiche’-Belgium, ‘La Artistica Symphonic Band of Buñol’-Spain, ‘Ataneres Ensemble’-Belgium among others.

Sierens has performed  in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Kosovo, The United States and South Africa in festivals including the Flanders Festival, the Klara Festival, Arte Amanti Chamber Music Festival, the South-African Extravaganza Festival, the Pristina Clarinet Podium/Kosovo, Clarinets On Stage, European Clarinet Festivals and the International Clarinet Association Clarinetfests in the United States and Europe.

Sierens is a member of ‘The International Clarinets’ and the ‘Venturi Woodwind Quintet and is the clarinet professor at the Art Lyceum MUDA in Ghent, the ‘GO! Academy Ghent’ and ‘Parcour Oudenaarde’, ‘KA! Art Academy Eeklo’ and teaches masterclasses in Europe and The United States.  In 2022 she was a guest professor at the University College Ghent-Royal Conservatory.

Severine Sierens is the Administrative Manager of International Music Promotion (nonprofit) and the International Clarinet Competition Ghent.  She is the secretary of the International Council, part of the International Clarinet Association, which is responsible for the organization’s internationalization and is the country chair for Belgium of the International Clarinet Association. She is often called upon to serve as a jury member for national and international competitions in Europe and The United States.
Severine was the administrative director of the 12th European Clarinet Congress Tilburg and received the 1st Culture Prize of the city of Lievegem.

A Buffet Crampon Artist, Severine Sierens  performs exclusively  on Buffet Crampon clarinets, Vandoren reeds and Silverstein ligatures.
